The Benko Gambit - a full repertoire against 1.d4
In this course, GM Sipke Ernst revisits an old love of his and presents a thoroughly modern interpretation of the Benko Gambit for Black - an opening that, after years out of fashion, is once again being played at the very highest level. Rather than the traditional 5...g6 after bxa6, the repertoire is built around the new main line with 5...e6, where Black accepts being a pawn down but obtains compensation of a completely different nature than in the old main lines.
The recurring message throughout is that Black's compensation here is positional and structural rather than purely tactical, so developing a good understanding of these types of positions with the help of this video course matters.
