The opponents in Easy Game mode
In Easy Game mode, you set playing strength and style of your opponent.
Click on Easy Game on the start screen to open the configuration dialog.
Set the level of play in the lower section, then click on one of the images to select a specific playing style/opponent type.
Tip: During the game, you can adjust the playing style and strength by clicking on Select Opponent or directly on the opponent’s picture.
Opponent types
Attacker (bull)
The attacking bull plays forwards. If possible, he tries to make the position sharper and worsen your king security. Not all of his sacrifices are correct. He accepts positional disadvantages when making aggressive moves, which often leads to overplaying. You can train your defense well against the attacker. Give him White and let him come. Take away offered material and hold the position. Learn to control your fear of an insecure king.
Swindler (fox)
The swindler is a caricature of the attacker. He plays wild gambits and cares little for material or positional soundness, waiting for a chance to strike. You may have a material advantage—until things suddenly get dangerous.
Allrounder (dog)
The allrounder has no specific traits and plays a balanced style.
Positional player (owl woman)
The wise owl is a positional player who values solid pawn structures, a safe king, and harmonious piece coordination.
Timid (mouse)
A distorted image of the positional player, the timid mouse prefers cramped but safe positions and avoids complications. Lacking initiative, it plays weaker, passive moves. Ideal if you want to beat a strong club-level player without assistance.
Endgame crack (turtle)
The turtle deliberately goes for an exchange. Simplification is the highest ideal, the opening often lacks ambition. When it comes to the endgame, things get tough. This opponent is set up to play stronger in the endgame. An effective training opponent for this phase of the game! Hopefully you will already have a material advantage by then...
Hypermodern (cat woman)
The hypermodern cat lady plays like Richard Réti or Savielly Tartakower: Flank openings, control the center with pieces.
Configurable (Robot)
Click on the robot to edit the playing style of your opponent.
VIP (human)
Click on the human portrait to select a VIP opponent.
Tip: The program comes with an opening book for every type of opponent. This is available as a database and can be expanded at any time. By clicking on the Book tab in the notation window, you can load an opening book, either the classic book format or one of the new database books.
All opponents access the LiveBook once they leave their specific repertoire. This significantly enhances their theoretical knowledge—less realistic for club-level play, but ideal if you want to test your own repertoire without being limited by the opponent’s book.
Every opponent has their own AI-generated voice. Some are quite distinctive and entertaining—for example, the swindler fox and the timid mouse. The hypermodern cat is a seductive lady, the aggressive bull growls dangerously, and the allrounder sounds cheerful and youthful.
