Realistic Time Management in Easy Game Mode

In Easy Game mode with a clock, Fritz manages time in a highly realistic way:

  • Trivial moves are played instantly.

  • Under time pressure, playing strength decreases and the likelihood of blunders increases.

  • In bullet games, when only seconds remain, Fritz follows the classic rule:
“A check in time saves 0.9” — meaning that giving checks in time trouble increases the program’s reaction speed.

  • Fritz can premove if it correctly predicts your next move.

All of this combines to create an authentic bullet chess experience.

How to Use This for Training

You can use these settings to target your time management skills:

  • If you often lose on time:
Choose a somewhat weaker opponent (e.g., the timid mouse, representing a club-level player) and set Time Management to Fast.
Your opponent will now play quickly and inaccurately. Your training goal: survive on the clock without blundering.

  • If you want to practice flagging a stronger opponent:
Select a stronger opponent and set Time Management to Slow.
Your mission: win on time, even from a losing position.

These scenarios simulate real tournament time pressure—and help you learn to handle it.
