Analogously to the rating lists for human chess players, there are also rating lists for chess engines and chess computers. The internationally most respected rating list, which is also regularly printed in the specialist press, is the SSDF list from Sweden.

The rating list published regularly by Eric Hallsworth in Selective Search magazine enjoys a similarly good reputation.

When interpreting the Elo numbers, one should always keep in mind that the values are based on pure computer-versus-computer games.
