Widescreen displays are used increasingly, especially on notebooks. What to do when the display of Komodo or Fritz 20 is distorted?

It should be noted that the chess engines and the database program adapt to any screen resolution.

If you do not set the native resolution of the monitor, e.g. 1280*1024, i.e. 5/4, or 1024*768, i.e. 4/3, this can lead to a distorted display. With current monitors it is important to always use the monitor's native resolution; then the board graphic is also displayed as square. As a positive side effect, the display also becomes sharper and clearer.

If you absolutely want to use a lower resolution, you must at least choose a resolution that scales equally in all directions. So instead of 1280*1024, e.g. 1024*820 or 960*768, so that the aspect ratio of 5/4 is maintained.
