Perfect endgame analyses and a huge performance gain for your engines in the endgame domain. That is what the new Endgame Turbo 4 provides. Thanks to the new format (Syzygy), the new turbo is slimmer, faster and at the same time considerably more comprehensive: the 4 DVDs offer perfect evaluation for all endgame positions with 3, 4 and 5 pieces, as well as 27 of the most important 6-piece endings. With ChessBase 12/13, Deep Fritz 14, Komodo Chess 8 and Houdini 4 you can immediately check whether a given endgame position is winning, losing or drawn. In addition, Komodo Chess 8 and Houdini 4 use the knowledge of the Endgame Turbo even when analysing more complex endgames, reaching reliable results faster and improving their playing strength.
If the position is concretely won or lost, the maximum number of moves to mate is also given. A chess engine with an interface to the TableBases can therefore make an absolutely precise statement about most three-, four-, and five-piece endings and, in contrast to the Thompson databases, will already take the values from the endgame database into account during the search. Unlike the Thompson databases, the TableBases should be installed on the hard disk so that the chess engine has fast access to the information during the search. In principle the databases can also be used from DVD-ROM, but because of the much slower access from DVD this entails considerable performance losses and slows the chess engine down drastically. All currently available TableBases require about 7 GB of hard disk capacity.
