If you want the engine to spend roughly the same amount of time on every move during a game, use the “Fixed Time” level. The engine will then think for an averagely fixed time per move, regardless of the position on the board.
You will find this option on the “Home” ribbon, in the levels menu. Other levels available there include Optimal, Handicap, Fixed Depth and the various time controls.
When you select “Fixed Time”, a small dialog appears in which you can enter the number of seconds the engine should think per move. After you confirm, every subsequent engine move will respect this setting until you change the level again.
The “Fixed Time” level is useful for analytical work, for short demonstration games, or when you want a predictable pace of play.
