Clearing hash tables

In the Load Engine window the "Clear hash tables" switch does not seem to respond. Unfortunately I have no idea how to check whether more RAM is available after pressing the switch. I remember that the switch worked in earlier versions. How can I clear my memory without switching the computer off and on again?

This function does not free any memory. The contents of the hash tables are cleared. This happens before the next search. The program does not give feedback for this. Of course, this only makes sense – if at all – with already loaded engines. The function exists only for historical reasons. It was a function for producing reproducible search results. With current engines using multiple CPUs, it is relatively unlikely that consistently the same results are displayed.
