While a raytraced board is active, the toolbar button Change Camera below the board opens a small non-modal window for setting up the view precisely. The window stays open while you play or analyse. Changes take effect immediately: every movement of a slider restarts the renderer with the new viewing angle.
Gaze position – the point in space the camera is aimed at.
- Preset – a drop-down list of common gaze positions (e.g. the centre of the board, individual files or ranks).
- Sliders X, Y, Z – move the gaze position precisely along each axis (range ±25).
Camera position – the position of the camera in space, expressed as azimuth, altitude and distance.
- Preset – a drop-down list of common camera angles (flat angle behind White, opposite side, bird's-eye view, etc.).
- Azimuth – rotates the camera horizontally around the board.
- Altitude – tilts the camera above the board (0° at table level, 90° vertically from above).
- Distance – how far the camera is from the board (1 = very close, 99 = very far).
Close – hides the window. The current camera setting is kept.
Tip – the same camera movements are available via the keyboard while the raytraced board has the focus:
- , / . – pan the camera left or right.
- Page Up / Page Down – tilt up or down.
- + / − – zoom in or out.
- 9 / 0 – move the gaze position sideways.
- I / O – move the gaze position forwards or backwards.
- V – automatically fit the whole board into the view.
- W – remember the current camera.
- F7 – restore the remembered camera.
- J – toggle a slow automatic rotation around the board.
