One of the most important PC applications for the active chess player is a chess database.

With a chess database it is possible to save and manage games and positions including variations, text and graphics in collections. Current game collections such as the MegaBase contain over 4 million chess games from the historical beginnings of chess up to the latest tournament practice.

Example

With a chess database, targeted analysis of these huge data sets is easily possible, e.g. when preparing for specific opponents. Thanks to the sophisticated search functions, compiling training material for openings, middlegame or endgame is no problem at all. A leading position is held by ChessBase, which is used by almost all top players.
